Atlanta, GA; October 1999 – Present

Examine, treat, and analyze objects for exhibition, storage, research, and loan. Collection includes painted wood, stone, ceramics, human remains, textiles, and metal artifacts from the Classical world, ancient Egypt and the Near East, the Ancient Americas, Asia, and Africa. Responsibilities also include the supervision of interns and volunteers, as well as lecturing and teaching in various University departments.

Conducted technical study of polychromy on late 13 th- and early 14 th-century French limestone sculpture, including pigment identification and characterization of binding media. (September 1998 - September 1999)

 Prepared objects for exhibition, loan, transit, and storage. Treatment responsibilities included examination, documentation, materials analysis and testing, structural stabilization, surface consolidation, cleaning, and aesthetic compensation of medieval stone, painted wood, and ivory objects. (October 1997 - August 1998)

 Il Gruppo Tintori

Florence, Italy; September 1997

Participated in long-term treatment of two Romanesque crucifix figures, involving mechanical removal of overpaint. Assisted in surface consolidation and structural stabilization of silver-gilt frame.

 Cosa Archaeological Site Excavations - American Academy in Rome

Orbetello, Italy; Summers 1996 & 1997

Assisted in the on-site stabilization of architectural remains within a 1 st-century Roman villa. Treatment entailed re-setting masonry, consolidating detached wall plasters, and providing temporary protective covering. (August 1997)

 Assisted in the on-site treatment of two 1 st-century Roman mosaic pavements. Efforts focused on stabilization and consolidation, as well as selective localized lifting to remove underlying roots, and protective back-filling. (July 1996)

Laboratorio del Restauro - Departimento di Archeologia e Storia delle Arti, Universitá di Siena

Siena, Italy; July 1997

Prepared excavated artifacts for long-term exhibition. Objects treated included Medieval glazed ceramics, Roman and Medieval bronzes, and Roman glass.

 Objects Conservation Lab - Winterthur Museum

Winterthur, DE; September 1996 - May 1997

Treated objects from the museum collection and private owners, including silver, ceramics, plaster, paper, and ethnographic objects. Assisted in survey and treatment of commemorative jewelry collection. Tested exhibition case materials.

Baltimore, MD; September - December 1996

Participated in the on-site cleaning of marble sculptures and in the re-housing of surveyed collections. Assisted in the treatment of privately-owned decorative arts objects.

Waterford, NY; June/ August 1996

Treated late 19 th-century painted Mexican wooden batea, belonging to estate of Frederic Church. Responsibilities included examination, documentation, curatorial consultation, structural repair, and visual compensation.

 Anthropology Conservation Laboratory - National Museum of Natural History, Smithsonian Institution

Washington, D. C.; January - June 1995

Treated and re-housed anthropological and ethnographic objects for storage. Projects included mount construction, humidification and reshaping of organic materials, as well as surface cleaning or repair of small stone, glass, and copper objects.

Objects Conservation Lab, Colonial Williamsburg Foundation

Williamsburg, VA; June - August 1994

Assisted in structural treatment of late 18 th-century painted and embossed leather folding screen. Cleaned painted iron clock-face and re-housed study collection of ceramic shards.

 Smith College Museum of Art

Northampton, MA; September 1993- May 1994

Developed didactic exhibit on care of works of art on paper. "Agents of Destruction" focused on paper's chemistry, the effects of light, acid, relative humidity, foxing, as well as improper framing and storage. Responsibilities included research and writing of text, design, production, and mounting of exhibit, and presentation of gallery-opening talk.
